Our 50km distance takes place in Sanodumma, Mira Rai’s birthplace, a rural area of Bhojpur district in the eastern part of Nepal. It is where she was born and raised, where she used to run up and down through the steep trails for her livelihood.
Since 2015, the annual Bhojpur Trail Race has provided an opportunity for aspiring local trail runners to showcase their potential. The event draws participants from the local Bhojpur area and nearby cities like Dharan, to the capital Kathmandu and even some national and international participants.
The 50 km trail is a circular route that starts and finishes at the oldest school in Sanodumma, Tharpu Secondary School, passing through Mira’s family home and the local marketplaces of Chyangre, Bhojpur and Thulodumma.
