It’s now mid-April and the heat is back in Hong Kong, but that did not deter a group of 11 keen runners from hitting the trails this morning for an 10km run in support of Exchange and Empower. After a vigorous warm-up (see below!) they followed trail guide Keilem and mountain runner Loz onto the village trails out of Mui Wo.
The group climbed Tiger Head and enjoyed spectacular views across North Lantau, before tackling the steep and technical descent into Discovery Bay.
They were joined for a tasty vegetarian lunch at Hemingway’s in Discovery Bay by several far more sensible people who wisely opted out of the morning’s adventure. The utterly mad ones then braved the return leg back to Mui Wo after refuelling, unfazed by the intense humidity!
Enormous thanks goes to Hemingway’s who kindly donated 25% of the runners’ food and drinks bill to the cause, making lunch all the more delicious. Combined with supporters’ donations, the day raised a fantastic $3400.
See you all at the next one!
